About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations as a Process Engineering Technician I in West Lafayette, Indiana. Must be willing and able to travel during the first 4-6 months of employment for training, totaling approximately 8-12 weeks in two-week increments. As a Process Engineering Technician I, you’ll provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.

Requirements

A two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
Basic computer skills including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, SQL).
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
Experience preparing materials cross-sections for microscopic analysis.
Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.

Responsibilities

Assisting in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
Documenting, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing related procedures.
Managing the procurement of assembly process tools.
Training operators and support staff as needed.
Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
