Process Engineering Technician I (Weekend Swing)
About The Position
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Manufacturing team as a Process Engineering Technician I in Lewiston, Idaho. This role provides immediate technical support to manufacturing, clarifies production process specification requirements, and assists in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes. The technician will also document, modify, and maintain manufacturing-related procedures, manage the procurement of assembly process tools, and train operators and support staff as needed. The position requires adherence to SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Requirements
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, SQL)
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Background check results satisfactory to SEL
- Negative drug test result(s)
Nice To Haves
- Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems
- Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments
- Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Experience preparing materials cross-sections for microscopic analysis
- Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics
Responsibilities
- Provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Assist in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Document, modify, and maintain manufacturing related procedures.
- Manage the procurement of assembly process tools.
- Train operators and support staff as needed.
- Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
