About The Position

The Process Engineering Specialist will support the Forming Team using engineering techniques to reduce waste in the process, making data-driven decisions. This role involves creating and maintaining work instructions, leading initiatives to reduce changeover time, and serving as a Project Manager for improvement ideas. The specialist will continuously improve manufacturing processes to achieve plant objectives, ensuring safety, quality, production, and customer satisfaction through the initiation, planning, design, validation, documentation, communication, and training of process improvements. Responsibilities also include maintaining PFMEA documents, supporting customer engineering changes, and managing fixture and process changes. A strong emphasis is placed on working safely, promoting a safety-first mentality, and improving working conditions. The role involves data analysis for system improvements, supporting quality objectives and problem-solving, and ensuring on-time delivery and low PPM rates. Active participation in 5S implementation and Metalsa Model Practices is expected. This position is located at the Elizabethtown, KY facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3 months of experience in the job offered, or in forming manufacture engineering position within the automotive chassis frame industry.
  • Experience must include supporting new platform implementation teams with analysis and decision making.
  • Must have hands-on experience participating in exploration, business analysis and implementation of technologies that improve process competitiveness.
  • Experience can be gained concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Forming Team utilizing engineering techniques to reduce waste in the process, making decisions that are driven by data.
  • Create and maintain Operator Work, Poke York Work, and Repair work instructions.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce change over time by eliminating waste.
  • Serve as Project Manager for approved improvement ideas in assigned area.
  • Continuously improve by leading manufacturing improvements to achieve plant objectives.
  • Initiate, plan, design, validate, document, communicate and train improvements to current process to ensure Safety, Quality, Production, and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Create and maintain PFMEA form control document for the process of line that you are assigned to support.
  • Support the processing, quoting, implementation, launching and maintaining of customer engineering changes.
  • Support all fixture and process changes through both the design and approval phases.
  • Work in a safe manner following all PPE guidelines and encourage others to do so as well.
  • Part of team to drive a safety-first mentality in the plant.
  • Be proactively involved with improving working conditions.
  • Offer ideas for improvement of all systems through data analysis and help with the implementation of them.
  • Support quality objectives/goals/problem solving.
  • Support and direct to achieve 100% on-time delivery to customer.
  • Target 0 PPM on parts for all our customers.
  • Actively support full implementation of the 5S’s, using it to approach and keep all areas clean, neat and properly maintained.
  • Actively involved with the Metalsa Model Practices and MOS Principle.
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities at the Elizabethtown, KY facility, as needed.
