Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12.
  • Some experience troubleshooting and repairing assembly equipment.
  • Basic understanding of PLC-based machine logic.
  • Ability to complete Millwright certificate.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic circuits and systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC-based equipment; some PLC program knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic, electric and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to select and install sensors and other machine components
  • Knowledge of and ability to use machining tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand and update electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings for assembly machines and equipment.
  • Understanding of machine guarding and other safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify safety concerns and repair unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain assembly machines and equipment per established PM schedules. Suggest improvements to PM schedules (frequency and content) as applicable.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintain process uptime through troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Be actively involved in continuous improvement activities. Communicate opportunities for improvement through the appropriate channels.
  • Document issues and repairs using the appropriate systems and forms.
  • Support production equipment start-up and change-over as required.
  • Assist in new equipment commissioning and start-up.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
