We are currently seeking a Process Engineer Inter to join our Process and Mechanical group in the Bakersfield, California office. Process Engineering Intern will work with close guidance and supervision to execute tasks and support senior process engineers, designers and drafters on related tasks and projects. A Process Engineer Inter will perform a variety of tasks which may include prov ide support for design, specification, and calculations.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an engineering discipline: i.e. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong technical proficiency.
  • Sound interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven initiative, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, Power point, etc.)
  • Strong desire to learn and work in a team environment.
  • The Engineering Intern should have a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering student focus with a minimum completion of 2nd year of an undergraduate engineering degree program.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience in the renewal energy industry will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
  • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Prepares and revises first draft of documentation in various project phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Assists with the development of technical equipment specifications required for a project.
  • Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
  • Perform basic calculations using standard company and manufacturer software.
  • Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team to ensure compatibility with design intent.
  • Understand and work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
  • Become familiar with codes and standards (both legislated and customer-specific).
  • Become familiar with design basis memorandum (DBM)
  • Become familiar with Process Simulation through commercial software (Hysys, ProMax, etc)
  • Prepare draft PFD (Process flow Diagrams).
  • Prepare draft P&ID's (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Become familiar with calculations to specify equipment, i.e., Pumps, Compressors, Separators, scrubbers, Heat Exchangers, tanks, etc.
  • Perform initial Hydraulic Calculations, through commercial software (AFT Fathom, PipeFlo, etc).
