About The Position

This role is for a Process Engineer who will be responsible for performing all aspects of complete designs for process engineering assignments under general supervision. The primary responsibilities include conducting Root Cause Analysis, P&ID development, Mass and Energy Balances, process data provision for equipment sizing, basic troubleshooting, and supporting site safety efforts. The engineer will also resolve production issues, manage MOC requests, assist in incident investigations, analyze Asset Utilization data, conduct process safety assessments, maintain process technology information, develop and execute improvement initiatives, support capital projects, and participate in plant/process start-ups and Process Hazards Analysis teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical processing with the ability to solve complex chemical engineering process problems
  • Exposure to production and process functions
  • Proficient in Excel and other MS Office products
  • Proficient in Project Management & AFE
  • Process Presentation skills, public speaking
  • Knowledge of LOPA, PHA, EHS Policy/Procedures/SOP
  • Environmental Regulations Specific to Plant Processes
  • Proficiency in DCS/PLC Process Control
  • Comfortable being out in the plant

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a PSM covered process (preferred).
  • Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead Root Cause Analysis and identifying preventative / corrective actions
  • P&ID development
  • Complete Mass and Energy Balances on unit operations to processes
  • Provide process data to size pumps, exchangers, control valves, flow meters and other basic equipment or unit operations
  • Basic systematic troubleshooting
  • Support the site’s safety efforts through activities such as safety observations, safety improvement projects and key safety procedure audits.
  • Resolving day-to-day production issues and process problems
  • Initiate and/or approve MOC requests to include action items, training, PSSR’s, etc. and communicate changes.
  • Assist in incident investigations, identifying root causes and appropriate corrective actions to improve safety and environmental performance at the Bessemer City site.
  • Analysis of Asset Utilization data for reliability and capacity improvement opportunities
  • Process safety assessment and improvement initiatives
