About The Position

The Process Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, direction, and coordination of contractors and equipment vendors in approved and planned capital projects. This role involves planning, scheduling, construction, installation, and equipment validation of approved capital projects, as well as assisting in facility design and the implementation of new equipment. The position requires management of capital projects, working closely with technical staff of equipment suppliers and customers, and screening alternative suppliers. A key aspect is developing, scaling-up, and commercializing new processes to minimize cost and maximize simplicity and flexibility within committed time and budget constraints. The role also includes leading engineering and contractor management efforts for project initiation, scheduling, implementation, and completion, with a particular focus on delivery according to schedule and budget. Effective communication of project changes, schedules, and budget impacts is essential, as is working with stakeholder departments to build scope, track progress, and deliver equipment to meet operational goals. The Process Engineer will also be responsible for developing scope of work, layout drawings, process flow, product mass balance, and project budgets for income-producing capital projects, overseeing detailed design and execution, and evaluating and purchasing appropriately sized process and support equipment. Additionally, the role involves developing changes to buildings or new building additions to complement process or storage needs. The position also requires participation in the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, fostering team cohesiveness, and accepting responsibility to identify and resolve issues that lack cohesiveness. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) is expected, along with understanding the role in supporting these systems and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities and is not meant to limit creativity or all possible tasks.
