We are looking for a highly motivated Process Engineer with a strong lean manufacturing background. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing; the Process Engineer will develop, implement, and optimize production processes. He/she will have a large playfield to make great things happen. He/she will have the freedom to define processes, create material flow or pull systems, and lead continuous improvement projects. This individual will lead operational projects including the development of metrics to drive the right behavior, leadership coaching and training on new tool/process usage, data analysis and proposal of new business solutions. He/she must be able to create momentum and excitement to implement changes on the shop floor, have entrepreneurial thinking, be a self-starter and should be able to identify areas for improvement and implement them in a timely fashion.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering; or equivalent or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • Strong Lean manufacturing and operations experience
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in reduction and operational efficiency improvements through process optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective resource utilization.
  • Managed CapEx projects, product flow optimization, and facility/layout design to improve operational performance and scalability.
  • Experience in Cost reduction and operations

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred refrigeration/HVAC engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review current state process, identify bottlenecks and implement changes to create flow.
  • Study and identify resource needs, ergonomic solutions, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Work closely with engineering and other cross-functional teams to provide relevant input to deploy new products for manufacturability.
  • Analyze and optimize production processes to ensure safety, quality, maximize yield, and improve capacity in cost-effective means.
  • Work with production staff to identify opportunities for design changes for existing products that would enable better manufacturability and cost reduction.
  • Lead quality function deployment activities to ensure Poka yokes are institutionalized in high-risk processes in order to eliminate the risk of poor quality (PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
  • Utilize Lean methodologies to improve process layouts, material flow, and 8 waste reductions.
  • Monitor and audit manufacturing processes to ensure product specifications and standards are achieved. Do it right the first-time mentality.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, method sheets or standard work, and routings for associated processes.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles. Reduce waste, create material flow, 5S initiatives, lead continuous improvement projects, etc.
  • Lead implementation of Engineering Changes to ensure a smooth transition between revisions.
  • Disposition of non-conforming material and elevate preventive action initiatives internally and with suppliers.
