About The Position

This entry-level Process Engineer position involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on various projects. The role requires working under the supervision of a senior process engineer to develop heat and material balances, perform equipment sizing and hydraulic calculations, and create process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). The position also includes participation in safety reviews (HAZOP/PHAs), maintaining communication with stakeholders, assisting with proposal preparation and schedule planning, and supporting construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts. A key aspect of this role is the expectation to leverage modern tools, including automation and AI, to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and deliver cost-effective designs. Programming or scripting skills for automation are valued.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering with a strong academic background.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Able to travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, start-up activities, off-site training, industry related conventions/seminars, etc. (up to 20% travel).

Nice To Haves

  • Oil and gas industry experience in midstream and/or upstream.
  • Skills in HYSYS, Synergi, VMG Symmetry, and/or ProMax preferred.
  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued.
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the heat and material balance for new projects using process simulation tools.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and prepare equipment data sheets.
  • Perform detailed hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, control valve sizing, compressor and pump duties, etc.
  • Perform facility overpressure protection calculations, PSV sizing, and documentation with supervision.
  • Develop Design Basis for new projects.
  • Develop Process Control Narrative document and support Cause & Effect document.
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Participate in safety reviews, HAZOP/PHAs and PSM activities.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals for engineering services.
  • Support schedule planning for projects including coordinating staffing resources with Process Engineering Manager.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts, draft operating procedures and provide operator training manual input.
