About The Position

Designs, procures, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment and tooling used to produce manufactured products, and supports plant operations. Sets standards for manufacturing excellence and develops new processes and technologies. Some travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Four-year technical degree and/or 4+ years of experience in production roll forming.
  • Comprehension of the laws of physics, mathematics, and material science.
  • Extensive specialized training with equipment and tooling used to produce products, including Notchers, Roll Forming, Benders, Plastic, Extruders, and TPV molding.
  • Experience developing and testing internal and external packaging.
  • Experience creating and maintaining engineering documents such as job breakdowns and work instructions.
  • Experience evaluating material flow.
  • Experience calculating production cell capacity.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles, Process Statistics, and Basic quality systems.
  • Ability to communicate and explain technical processes, process limitations, and how product design is affected by these limitations to various audiences (customers, management, etc.).
  • Ability to work with all levels within the plant, from plant manager to factory floor operator.
  • High level of communication skill required to explain and interpret information or ideas and discuss and make recommendations.
  • Discretion required in deciding how and what to communicate.

  • Experience with APQP process and documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with internal product design teams and/or customers to specify design criteria for extrusion as it pertains to mold interface.
  • Responsible for signing off on product design regarding manufacturability.
  • Creates appropriation requests and equipment specifications for vendor quotes.
  • Creates tooling specifications and obtains vendor quotes.
  • Acts as the key contact person between the plant and tool vendors.
  • Procures equipment and tooling, tracks vendor timing, and approves equipment and tooling at vendors.
  • Assists in equipment layout preparation.
  • Ensures proper installation of equipment and tooling according to specifications and establishes optimum processing conditions.
  • Trains supervisors and operators.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and tooling problems during launch ramp-up and throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Oversees continuous improvement projects to refine processes related to design, equipment, etc.
  • Supports new product launches and programs with new process development to improve capability, output, safety, and reliability.
  • May perform duties other than those specified on occasion.
