About The Position
Corning is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical support for the chemical, environmental, and facility systems powering our optical fiber manufacturing operations. In this role, you will drive process understanding through data analysis and experimentation, lead improvement projects, and collaborate with a team of engineering and operations experts to solve complex manufacturing challenges. This position includes rotating off-hours coverage on nights and weekends shared with teammates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering preferred) from an accredited four-year college.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL, and statistical/visualization packages (e.g., JMP, Power BI, PI ProcessBook, Python)
- Experience with experimental design and data-driven process analysis in a manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting or leading structured product or process development projects
Nice To Haves
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting
- Project management experience
Responsibilities
- Provide process engineering support for chemical, environmental control, and facility systems in an optical fiber manufacturing environment
- Analyze process data, design and execute experiments, and collaborate with subject matter experts to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Lead or support cost reduction, process optimization, and new product/process introduction projects
- Track key process metrics and implement response plans to address performance trends
- Support startup of new equipment and systems; maintain technical documentation and deliver training to engineering and operations teams
