About The Position

TEL is seeking a Process Engineer for a contract role in Albany, NY. This position involves supporting the development and improvement of plasma etch processes. The role offers different levels (I, II, or III) with increasing responsibilities and experience requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
  • Process Engineer I: No experience necessary. Previous experience or relevant internship preferred but is not required.
  • Process Engineer II: 2 years of relevant experience
  • Process Engineer III: 5 years of relevant experience
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor or hardware manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with process development, pilot plant operations, and data analysis.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and learn new technical concepts.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of semiconductor or hardware processing techniques and tooling.
  • Proficient in statistical process control and data-driven problem solving.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work effectively.
  • Moderate project leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Deep technical expertise in semiconductor or hardware manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and improvement of plasma etch processes.
  • Define process formulations, coordinate design reviews, and compile data to optimize process parameters from pilot to full-scale production.
  • Develop new or modified process formulations and define requirements for processing or handling equipment.
  • Review and assess processing techniques applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products.
  • Coordinate design requirement reviews with engineering and scientific teams to ensure process compatibility.
  • Compile and evaluate test data to determine process limits and variables.
  • Assist in planning and conceptualizing projects related to process development or equipment automation.
  • Learn and apply professional engineering concepts and company policies to resolve routine process issues.
  • Execute plasma etch process development and optimization projects.
  • Apply technical expertise to improve process efficiency and quality, coordinating cross-functional teams as necessary.
  • Lead development and implementation of process modifications and optimizations in pilot and production environments.
  • Define equipment requirements and review processing methods for compatibility and efficiency.
  • Analyze data to establish process control limits and troubleshoot process deviations.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and manufacturing teams to resolve process-related challenges.
  • Support automation and new technology evaluations for process improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to departmental best practices.
  • Manage complex engineering projects, leading cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in plasma etching process.
  • Lead and manage multiple process development and improvement projects with measurable impact on quality and yield.
  • Develop advanced process control strategies and equipment specifications.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, materials, and automation tooling.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality groups to ensure process robustness and scalability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to departmental policies and standards related to process engineering.
