About The Position

Doncasters has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join their team in Oxford, AL. This role serves as the primary technical authority and manufacturing lifecycle manager for a portfolio of aerospace investment cast parts. The Process Engineer acts as the technical bridge between customer quality specifications and the manufacturing floor, interpreting metallurgical and process specifications, managing the qualification process (PPAP/FAI), maintaining part-specific documentation, and driving stable production yields. This role collaborates with various manufacturing process owners, quality engineers, and production support specialists to engineer the optimal manufacturing path, ensuring the final component conforms to customer quality and metallurgical expectations. This position is located on-site at the Oxford, Alabama, aerospace investment casting facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Fundamental comprehension of metallurgy, microstructure, defect identification and origination, and multi-physics interactions involved in the metal casting process.
  • Understanding of aerospace quality systems and qualification frameworks.
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting customer driven specifications such as material and microstructural requirements, non-destructive testing (NDT) criteria, and heat-treatment standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for investment casting, metallurgy, or component qualification experience.
  • Proven track record in Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) castings experience in a Turbine Aerofoils industry.
  • Working knowledge of materials science, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
  • Specific investment casting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority and manufacturing lifecycle manager for a portfolio of aerospace investment cast parts.
  • Act as the technical bridge between customer quality specifications and the manufacturing floor.
  • Interpret metallurgical and process specifications.
  • Manage the qualification (PPAP/FAI) process.
  • Maintain part-specific documentation.
  • Drive stable production yields.
  • Collaborate with various manufacturing process owners (Ceramic Core, Shell, Foundry, etc.), quality engineers, and other production support specialists to engineer the optimal manufacturing path.
  • Ensure the final component conforms entirely to customer quality and metallurgical expectations.
