About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a new college graduate with a doctorate to work as a Process Engineer in Albany, New York. The role focuses on designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. The engineer will collect and analyze data, characterize hardware, troubleshoot engineering issues, measure film properties, prepare technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. The position offers opportunities to experiment, learn, and collaborate with R&D teams on research and development projects. The engineer will also work with vendors and suppliers and help implement new technologies, products, and analytical instrumentation. The role may involve serving as a resource for junior colleagues and leading project teams as needed. Travel is 10% of the time, and relocation is available.

Responsibilities

Design, collect data, analyze, and compile reports on difficult process engineering experiments.
Perform hardware characterization on a variety of difficult systems.
Troubleshoot complex problems, perform root cause analysis, and resolve process engineering issues.
Measure film properties and interpret data.
Generate internal product documentation, presentations, and technical reports.
Communicate and engage with customers to resolve complex process engineering issues or concerns, under limited supervision.
Identify and select vendors and suppliers, and partner with them.
Implement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentation.
Serve as a resource for junior colleagues and lead project teams as needed.
