About The Position

Corning Incorporated is hiring a Process Engineer at our Erwin Park Center facility in Painted Post, NY. This role typically works M-F, 40 hours per week with flex as needed and requires up to 50% travel, primarily domestic across multiple locations, with international travel possible as well. Join Corning in a hands-on engineering role focused on process improvement, manufacturing support, and structured problem solving across the business. In this position, you will work across manufacturing, supplier, and cross-functional teams to reduce defects, improve process performance, strengthen process control, and evaluate new materials, equipment, and process parameters. This role may support any Corning division or Research & Development organization and will help drive improvements in cost, quality, uptime, yield, cycle time, and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, materials, ceramic, or mechanical engineering, or computer science
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to work effectively with others, with initiative and flexibility

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new processes or improve existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide
  • Reduce defects by identifying and addressing root causes
  • Solve process and manufacturing problems using structured problem-solving methods such as KT, Designed Experiments, DMAIC, and Six Sigma tools
  • Apply statistical tools to analyze process data and support decision making
  • Implement process control and process discipline systems within manufacturing operations
  • Review and interpret data to recommend immediate actions, long-term corrective actions, and follow-up experiments
  • Improve manufacturing cost, quality, uptime, yield, cycle time, and safety
  • Work with suppliers to improve performance
  • Evaluate new raw materials, equipment, and process parameters
  • Document SOPs, SOSs, experiment plans, and process changes, and train operators and peers on defined processes
