About The Position

This position has a target start date for a January 2027 start. The Process Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for multiple projects. Under the supervision of a more senior process engineer, the engineer will develop the heat and material balance for new projects using process simulation tools, perform equipment sizing calculations, and prepare equipment data sheets. They will also perform detailed hydraulic calculations, facility overpressure protection calculations, and develop the Design Basis and Process Control Narrative documents. The role involves creating process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), participating in safety reviews (HAZOP/PHAs) and PSM activities, and maintaining effective communication with project team members, clients, vendors, and contractors. Additionally, the engineer will participate in proposal preparation, support schedule planning, assist with construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts, and contribute to operating procedures and operator training manuals.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering with a strong academic background.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Able to travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, start-up activities, off-site training, industry related conventions/seminars, etc. (up to 20% travel).

Nice To Haves

  • Oil and gas industry experience in midstream and/or upstream.
  • Skills in HYSYS, Synergi, VMG Symmetry, and/or ProMax preferred.
  • Interest in learning and effectively using emerging technologies where relevant to their role.
  • Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant but is not required unless specifically identified elsewhere in the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the heat and material balance for new projects using process simulation tools.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and prepare equipment data sheets.
  • Perform detailed hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, control valve sizing, compressor and pump duties, etc.
  • Perform facility overpressure protection calculations, PSV sizing, and documentation with supervision.
  • Develop Design Basis for new projects.
  • Develop Process Control Narrative document and support Cause & Effect document.
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Participate in safety reviews, HAZOP/PHAs and PSM activities.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals for engineering services.
  • Support schedule planning for projects including coordinating staffing resources with Process Engineering Manager.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts, draft operating procedures and provide operator training manual input.
