About The Position

Gerdau is seeking a Process Engineer for its Selkirk, MB facility. This role reports to the Rolling Mill Superintendent and is responsible for developing, refining, and communicating the engineering and operating data necessary for the production of billets and finished products. The position involves preparing and reviewing data sheets, diagrams, and flow charts for efficient equipment operation, collecting and interpreting production data to monitor performance and recommend improvements, collaborating with supervisors and personnel to ensure optimal equipment operation for production, safety, and quality, and developing engineering information for cost justification.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of metallurgy and an understanding of steel manufacturing and techniques used in the melting, refining, and costing of molten steel or modern rolling practices.
3 - 5 years of related work experience.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Degree/diploma in Metallurgical engineering, Metallurgical engineering Technology, or a related engineering curriculum.

Responsibilities

Prepare and/or review all data sheets, diagrams, and flow charts needed for the correct and efficient operation of the department equipment.
Receive/collect, interpret, and extrapolate data from the production process to monitor current performance against established practices and make recommendations on how to improve efficiencies for the future.
Work in close cooperation with department supervisors and appropriate maintenance and operations personnel to ensure correct and proper operation of all related equipment to obtain the desired production, safety, and quality levels.
Develop proper engineering information to facilitate departmental requests and needs for cost justification.
