The Process Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining automated processes and equipment. This role involves leading the development, implementation, and optimization of automated manufacturing processes, including robotics and PLC-controlled systems. The engineer will design, specify, and deploy automation fixtures, tooling, and custom equipment to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and cost-effectiveness. They will also specify and standardize controls, sensors, vision systems, robots, and other automation equipment. The position requires driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven methodologies, and supporting manufacturing operations by troubleshooting automated equipment, reducing downtime, and improving process robustness. The Process Engineer will act as a technical resource for maintenance teams, providing training and documentation for automated systems and robotics. Collaboration with Operations Managers and Manufacturing Engineers is key to aligning automation solutions with production targets and business priorities. The role includes leading capital automation projects from scope definition to vendor coordination, and developing/tracking manufacturing and automation performance metrics. Support for new product introductions (NPI) to ensure manufacturability and automation-readiness is also required, along with evaluating and implementing emerging automation technologies. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements is paramount. The role also involves assisting manufacturing engineers in developing standard work for automated processes and improving processes through data analysis.
