The Process Engineer is generally responsible for performing complete design of less complex process engineering assignments. Assists in the design of larger and more complex chemical/process engineering assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision in our Pasadena office. Primary responsibilities will include promoting a culture of working safely and applying safety-related concepts into process design, utilizing department standards, procedures, and guidelines, and understanding project scope, specifications, and design criteria. The role involves assisting in developing conceptual layouts and cost studies, producing estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs, and creating detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction. The engineer will also check calculations made by others, assist the drafting group in resolving layout and detailing problems, consult with design leaders from other disciplines, advise the Lead Engineer concerning design or scope changes, and assist in checking vendor and other discipline drawings for chemical/process input. Additionally, the role includes reviewing fabrication drawings and construction submittals, performing fieldwork for data gathering and construction support, and being knowledgeable of discipline-specific methods, practices, and techniques. Participation in professional society meetings and willingness to travel for on-site work, project meetings, client presentations, or training are also expected.
