About The Position

Responsible for special projects and related engineering assistance in support of manufacturing operations. This role utilizes engineering disciplines to troubleshoot shop floor activities and improve shop floor throughput to reduce costs. The Process Engineer interacts with Divisional Engineering on new jobs related to PPAP and process items, and communicates foreseen issues with the Technical Manager for discussion and possible resolution. They initiate job specifications for new jobs, obtain and fashion samples for Boundary Boards and other process documentation, and coordinate and perform initial trial runs on new processes and equipment, noting and tracking issues for resolution. The position also involves initiating improvements to existing systems, processing machinery and equipment to support manufacturing functions, and creating or constructing bill of materials, process flows, and PFMEAs. Additionally, the role estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs, and may make customer visitations for job product related involvement. The Process Engineer interacts with plant engineer, industrial engineering, quality manager, and plant chemist on job-related functions, and may work with raw material suppliers on quality-oriented problems. They stay abreast of technology improvements, recommend and justify implementation of equipment and process, establishing cost reduction improvements, and work on continuous improvement programs and cost reduction projects. The role also involves maintaining job records, statistically analyzing gathered data in test runs, and making recommendations based upon analysis. They may work with the laboratory in conducting material and product test and evaluations, and work closely with shift supervisors and department managers to ensure proper quality operations of materials and equipment on new job start-up. Finally, the Process Engineer provides assistance to the plant technical manager on assigned projects and may, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline with 4 years of process engineering experience, or equivalent combination of less education and more related process engineering experience.
• Ability to focus and lead multi-disciplinary task teams.
• Previous experience in supervision in manufacturing.
• Excellent knowledge of manufacturing parts and processes.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.

• Create or construct bill of materials, process flows and process failure mode effective analysis (PFMEA).
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decision.
• May make customer visitations for job product related involvement.
• Interact with plant engineer, industrial engineering, quality manager and plant chemist on job related functions.
• May work with raw material suppliers on quality oriented problems.
• Keep abreast of technology improvements, recommends and justifies implementation of equipment and process establishing cost reduction improvements.
