About The Position

In this critical role you will be responsible for supporting defect yield improvement within MACOM's internal semiconductor fab. This includes the development of new fab processes and sustaining existing processes. The product portfolio includes GaN, GaAs, Si, and InP based technologies. MACOM designs and manufactures semiconductor products for Data Center, Telecommunication, and Industrial and Defense applications. Headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, MACOM has design centers and sales offices throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Requirements

  • 2+ years of semiconductor specific experience
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering
  • Familiarity with typical materials systems for compound semiconductor and a solid understanding of device physics and IC processing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compound semiconductor processing in a wafer fabrication setting or similar.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing.
  • An optimistic, can-do approach.
  • Proven track record of solving technical problems, project ownership, meeting deadlines, and multitasking.
  • Strong sense of ownership, enthusiasm, optimism, drive, and dedication to the improvement of the process area.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams to improve processes.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including technical writing for summarizing data and findings, writing process and equipment specifications and work instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data mining and statistics, SPC and DOE, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Development, continuous improvement, and sustaining processes in close partnership with Device and Integration Engineering as well as Business Unit design teams.
  • Hands-on support including set up, qualification, optimization and troubleshooting of equipment for automated die inspection (AOI), manual die inspection, metrology tools and other FAB tools and processes.
  • Sustaining defect yield processes to meet all factory indicators.
  • Planning and conducting experiments to fully characterize the process throughout the development cycle.
  • Driving improvements on quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity and safety/ergonomic over variables such as material, method, equipment, environment and operating personnel.
  • Providing process support including daily equipment setup, writing new programs, adjusting/optimizing process parameters, running engineering lots, equipment troubleshooting, and assisting production with identifying, responding to, and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Taking ownership of writing detailed/well-defined setup instructions/procedures, training operators/technicians and other engineers on equipment setup and use.
  • Updating and creating routes.
