About The Position

This role supports safe, stable, and reliable plant operations by applying process engineering principles to monitor unit performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and maintain accurate process documentation. The Process Engineer contributes to Process Safety Management activities, participates in root cause investigations, and collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, and other engineering disciplines to drive performance improvements. The role also supports small capital and expense projects through process design input, technical evaluations, and participation in commissioning and startup activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant Science required.
  • 0 – 5 years relevant engineering experience preferred
  • Experience in a PSM environment preferred
  • Basic understanding of P & IDs and PFDs in a petrochemical or refining setting
  • Working knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals, data analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs/PFDs and basic PSM elements (MOC, PHA participation, action‑item follow‑up).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Team‑oriented, proactive, and dependable.

Responsibilities

  • Support process engineering activities within assigned production units, ensuring safe, stable, and reliable operations.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, process calculations, and basic simulations to troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Assist in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and action‑item follow‑up.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation such as P&IDs, operating procedures, process descriptions, and engineering calculations.
  • Monitor unit performance data, identifying deviations and recommending improvements to efficiency, throughput, and energy use.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and provide engineering input for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and other Engineering disciplines to support daily operations and small improvement projects.
  • Support capital or expense projects by providing process design inputs, reviewing vendor documents, and assisting during commissioning or startup.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, engineering practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including reliability improvements, optimization studies, and technology upgrades.
  • Engage in learning and development to build technical expertise and progress toward higher‑level engineering responsibilities.
