About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a qualified Process Engineer to join their team. This role involves providing design solutions and assessments for new, updated, and modified process systems, structures, and components within Nuclear Power Plants. The engineer will be responsible for preparing and reviewing various design documents, performing thermalhydraulic evaluations, and ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. The position also involves supporting proposal preparation, adhering to project delivery schedules, and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.
  • Experience performing heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations.
  • Experience in process system design and layout.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III.
  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME B31.1 codes and other nuclear-power-plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components.
  • Prepare and/or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
  • Perform thermalhydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering packages.
  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
  • Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
