About The Position

BASF/Chemetall, is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide. At BASF/Chemetall, we develop and manufacture tailor-made technology and system solutions for applied surface technology. Our products protect metals from corrosion, facilitate forming and treatment, prepare parts optimally for the painting process and ensure excellent coating adhesion. Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Knowledge and ability to learn mechanical (equipment and piping systems,) and electrical (including automation,) applications.
  • Experience working with SAP modules.
  • Ability to generate and apply knowledge of technical drawings, (plans, schemes, layouts, process flow diagrams and P&IDs).
  • Ability to develop project management skills.
  • Work to improve and develop Quality Management systems implemented on site; ISO 9001, TS 16949, ISO 14001.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Develop proficiency in the various product families and their chemistries.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Software Skills: MS Office, Powerpoint and Excel, Visio, and AutoCad.
  • Travel: ability to travel 5-10% as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing product Bill of Material and Mixing Instructions in the PLC and SAP.
  • Manage investment projects in time, on budget, and with high quality using internal and external resources.
  • Supports the introduction of new production processes into BMT in accordance with established Management of Change (MoC) procedures.
  • Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. Identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve.
  • Apply knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental applications in all phases of the work.
  • Studies products and production methods to improve safety, quality and productivity to promote continuous improvement.
  • Assures the application of company policies regarding SHE standards, near misses, 5-S, Quality systems, and Responsible Care. (Process Safety)
  • Learn and apply concepts related to production process automation – Siemens S7 PLC and related control systems.
