About The Position

McCormick is seeking a Process Engineer to join their Flavor Solutions facility in Geneva, IL. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining documentation that captures best operating practices in the plant, with the goal of reducing variation in operating methods to improve process reliability and repeatability. The Process Engineer will work within the 6 MHPS systems to lead technician teams in standardizing processes and procedures across various departments, including processing, packaging, maintenance, and engineering. They will also collaborate with Department Managers to ensure the formal change process is followed for evaluating change proposals.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial preferred) or Food Science.
  • May be a new/recent graduate with relevant co-op/internship experience.
  • Minimally, one year of relevant production/engineering experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with plant operations, packaging and processing equipment.
  • Experience developing and writing procedures with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of MPWS systems.
  • Working knowledge of facilitative coaching and mentoring.
  • Working knowledge of packaging and process engineering (packaging preferred).
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
  • Full involvement with the MPWS system.
  • Provides mentoring, coaching, and leading technology and technical skills development.
  • Provides feedback to Production on problems and solutions; recommends improvements within the department.
  • Proficiency in the application of statistical methods.
  • Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrated grammatical and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Mastery in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Providing process engineering support and project engineering guidance to filling, processing, and/or support departments.
  • Focusing on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineering service requests.
  • Evaluating and recommending process capital improvements and automation.
  • Critically analyzing processes/systems/practices to identify current gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing documentation for assigned areas, including formula reviews, department operating procedures, line machinery training manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Control Procedures, run documents (Baseline Audit Sheets, Changeover documents, Shutdown procedures, Startup procedures, Operational Cleaning procedures), and Line Capability documents.
  • Ensuring all documentation is updated annually for ongoing systems and created for new projects.
  • Working with Project Engineering to set documentation standards for vendors and contractors.
  • Coaching and developing a team of Technicians to improve their skills and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring uniformity across all departments.
  • Supporting new plant start-ups with technical expertise and process team support.
  • Staying current on industry standards and latest developments, applying best practices, and ensuring they are approved and documented.
