About The Position

This role supports existing and upcoming programs for Aftermarket/AOE and IOE customers, aiming to drive growth and enhance product line support from initial phases through production, adhering to Company standards, APQP, and GPS initiatives. The position also provides support to packaging engineering and actively participates in problem-solving as a Product Development (PD) team member from Phase 1 to Production. Responsibilities include establishing run-at-rates, process development, PFMEA/P Flow Diagrams, developing and maintaining SOPs, managing program changes into production, and continuous improvement efforts. Project management for outside equipment houses is also a key function. The role involves developing manufacturing methods and processes, writing operation sheets, investigating and troubleshooting manufacturing problems, reviewing designs, preparing time studies and sales estimates, and establishing requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and manufacturing methods, including make-or-buy decisions and facility layout. The Process Engineer will also plan and design floor layouts for efficient equipment coordination and support international facilities, requiring up to 30% travel. Proficiency in IATF 16949 is required. The role focuses on developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards cost-efficiently, investigating and resolving work-in-process issues, recommending improvements, monitoring operations for compliance, and reviewing vendor proposals for equipment.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent (8 or more years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, product design, or quality within electromechanical, thermal management, or industrial systems environments.
  • Basic design skills with general knowledge of manufacturing methods and capabilities
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), drafting, and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of statistics and ability to lead structured problem-solving activities (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
  • Familiarity with Pump systems, fluid flow, and thermal management
  • Familiarity with Motor-driven equipment and rotating assemblies
  • Familiarity with Electronics integration and validation processes
  • Familiarity with Testing systems, including flow, pressure, leak, and electrical validation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Electrical/Electronic field.
  • Technologist Diploma or equivalent in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum three years experience in manufacturing, product design or quality with an automotive OEM supplier.
  • Must possess basic design skills including general knowledge of manufacturing methods and capabilities.
  • Computer aided design skills with sound drafting and GD&T knowledge required.
  • Must have a sound knowledge of statistics and be able to lead problem-solving activities.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of FEAD synchronous systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects with external equipment suppliers and integrators.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing methods and processes for electromechanical assemblies and thermal management systems, including pumps, motors, fluid handling components, and integrated electronic controls.
  • Write operation sheets for products and tools.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot manufacturing problems.
  • Review drawings and designs during development phases.
  • Prepare time studies and support cost estimates for sales.
  • Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and manufacturing methods, including make-versus-buy decisions and facility layout for new or revised products.
  • Support development of testing and validation processes, including flow, pressure, leak detection, and electrical performance verification.
  • Plan and design floor layouts to efficiently locate and coordinate equipment for production of high-reliability systems used in mission-critical environments such as data center infrastructure.
  • Support international manufacturing facilities as required (travel up to 30%).
  • Develop and implement production and processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Investigate and resolve work-in-process issues, including performance variation, mechanical or electrical failures, and process inefficiencies.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in operation sequences, equipment utilization, and overall process flow using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Monitor assigned operations to ensure compliance with approved methods and quality requirements.
  • Review proposals from outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment.
