About The Position

ITAC is seeking a mid-level process engineer with the capability to design, specify, and evaluate process systems within the chemical process industries. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-discipline engineering team to fulfill project requirements, contributing to various project stages including feasibility studies, basic engineering, conceptual design, and detailed design. This role involves applying knowledge of chemical process analysis, synthesis, and design, with a strong emphasis on process safety and operability. The engineer will troubleshoot operating processes, develop engineering solutions, and work closely with clients and other disciplines to establish design bases, explore options, make recommendations, and optimize designs. Responsibilities include participating in project planning and execution, managing process engineering efforts, tracking budgets and schedules, interpreting and developing material and energy balances, creating PFDs and P&IDs, and ensuring compliance with regulations, codes, and industry standards. The role also involves overseeing CAD drawing production by designers, coordinating with equipment vendors, and presenting designs to clients. The engineer will also act as a process team representative in PHAs/HAZOPs. The position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in design engineering or technology licensing organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex process-related issues
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Professional Engineering registration preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to multi-discipline team to optimize the design of processes
  • Perform material and energy balances.
  • Formulate process design strategy from material and energy balances.
  • Creates Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • Develop process specifications for the selection and purchase of process equipment
  • Interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards ensures that designs meet established requirements and good engineering practices.
  • Conduct business and interactions with a positive attitude that projects a high level of professionalism.
