About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Process Engineer. This position is onsite at our Washington, PA facility. Relocation is not provided for this role. Washington, PA is the home of the Eaton Crouse-Hinds commercial outlet box facility which manufactures steel boxes, covers, and prefabricated electrical assemblies. Manufacturing 1.3 million units per week, this highly automated and fast paced environment places a high value on talented professionals that are focus on problem solving and efficiency. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Position Overview: The primary responsibilities of this role include the design, specification, and implementation of safe and efficient manufacturing processes, including machine guarding and controls, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and process documentation. Includes collection and analysis of manufacturing data to implement process improvements that improve safety, production quality, customer deliver, and cost reductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a technical role supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of PLC experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role supporting manufacturing operations
  • PLC experience, preferrably Allen Bradley
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, TPM, and/or RCM principles
  • Experience with Keyence and Cognex vision
  • Experience with PLC programing, control panel/electrical and mechanical power press and stamping knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data and key performance metrics to identify process bottlenecks, guide improvement activities, and support data driven decision making.
  • Lead the development and execution of cost reduction initiatives using our continuous improvement framework to eliminate waste, increase efficiency, and improve operational performance across production lines.
  • Work directly with direct manufacturing labor to troubleshoot and improve processes, including fabrication, assembly, measuring, and testing of products produced.
  • Lead the development and implementation of I4.0 data collection and smart manufacturing systems to enable real time monitoring, enhanced traceability, performance optimization, and predictive maintenance capabilities across production processes.
  • Configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting Keyence vision systems and safety devices to support inspection, error proofing, and machine safety functions on aging production equipment.
  • Hands on experience maintaining and upgrading legacy controls that utilize Allen Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLC platforms, along with PanelView Plus/PanelView 5000 HMIs. Ability to support obsolete or limited support hardware while planning and executing migration paths to modern architecture.
  • Experience with press control software, including safety circuits, stroke logic, auto/hand modes, interlocks, hydraulic/pneumatic sequencing, and integration with upstream/downstream equipment. Ability to stabilize legacy press controls while driving improvements in uptime, reliability, and operator safety.
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot control programs using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 Logix Designer, including associated communication and configuration tools (FactoryTalk View, RSLinx, ControlFLASH, etc.).
  • Strong capability to interpret electrical schematics and diagnose machine faults through detailed review of ladder logic, function blocks, tags, and interlock logic. Skilled in solving issues associated with aging I/O hardware, sensor degradation, or intermittent field conditions common in older press and automated systems.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety responsibilities by following established policies, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Support and execute capital plan to support capability, capacity, and efficiency to develop new key plant processes in support of sales growth and product line expansion.
