About The Position

Polar Semiconductor is seeking a Process Engineer to join our team in Bloomington, Minnesota. This role is crucial for sustaining and enhancing our current semiconductor manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will be responsible for monitoring processes to ensure they meet necessary parameters, developing and transferring new processes to production, and providing pre-process troubleshooting and analysis. The ideal candidate will ensure processes meet design criteria, write programs for testing and monitoring, and analyze test data to make necessary adjustments. This position also involves equipment maintenance, selection, qualification, and characterization to ensure maximum operation, as well as setting up and maintaining documentation and statistical process control charts. The role requires staying updated on current processes and equipment through professional publications and analyzing failed runs to identify and resolve process errors. The Process Engineer will also support company initiatives related to quality, safety, environmental management, continuous improvement, yield management, and cost containment. This is a dynamic role within a progressive, technical environment where professionals can grow and excel.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing techniques and statistics.
  • Skills in technical writing, computers, interfacing with people, problem solving and organization.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, physics, chemistry or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Sustain current processes to achieve greater line and parametric yields.
  • Monitor current processes to ensure process complies with necessary parameters and provides a base line for any necessary process enhancements.
  • Develop and transfer new processes to production.
  • Provide pre-process troubleshooting, analysis of outcomes and feasibility of process.
  • Ensure process meets design criteria.
  • Write programs to test, monitor or process wafer.
  • Monitor results of tests.
  • Analyze visual and physical test data to determine disposition of a run, make adjustments as needed.
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance, selection, qualification, and characterization, to ensure maximum operation.
  • Set up and maintain documentation and statistical process control charts on all relevant processes.
  • Review professional publications regarding current processes and process equipment for applicability.
  • Analyze failed runs to identify the source of process errors and recommend process changes.
  • Support company initiatives, such as quality, safety and environmental management, CQI, 5S, yield management, and cost containment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
