About The Position

Corning is a world leader in glass, ceramic, and materials science, known for its innovation and ability to push technological boundaries. The company is seeking a Process Engineer to drive operational excellence in optical system assembly and testing. This role involves close collaboration with manufacturing, safety, quality, and supply chain teams, reporting to the Process Engineering Supervisor for A&T/MCR. The position is focused on analyzing, designing, and optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Engineering or Science discipline (Optical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Materials, or related)
  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Must be able to effectively work with production groups and development engineering.
  • Must have strong, data-driven, problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing and improving process capability and control systems (SPC, Cp/Cpk).
  • Experience applying problem solving, statistical process control and continuous improvement methodologies: Performance Excellence, DMAIC, Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, data analysis, or others
  • Track record of cycle time reduction, yield improvement, and rework elimination.
  • Previous experience in technical manufacturing and process support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily production support to resolve process upsets.
  • Identify and lead process improvements to reduce cost, increase capacity, and extend process capability (variability, cycle-time reduction, yield improvement, rework elimination, complexity, and scrap reduction).
  • Lead new product introductions into the production system.
  • Engage the product development team during the development phase through informal and formal design reviews.
  • Develop process flow charts, work instructions, process sheets, checklists, forms, and other required documentation.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to quote new products, commercial team to resolve customer questions and the quality team to respond to customer complaints and returns.
  • Assess existing manufacturing capability gaps and recommend development activities.
  • Perform manufacturing tasks and activities, as trained, and in compliance with work instructions.
