Role/Department: Process Engineer & Transformation Lead/HR Workforce Analytics At Northern Trust, data drives all of our decision-making and HR is no exception. The HR Workforce Analytics team pioneers Northern Trust’s approach to talent strategy and organizational growth. As a member of the team, this position will play an important role in helping leverage vast troves of data to generate insights and inform decisioning-making for internal clients across the globe. The Process Engineer & Transformation Lead sits at the intersection of workforce strategy, experience design, and execution. This role is responsible for reimagining and redesigning critical workforce processes by applying human-centered design, rigorous process re-engineering, and technology enablement to redesign how work gets done. This is a high-impact role for a transformation leader who enjoys building from the ground up. You will combine design thinking, deep process re-engineering, and technology enablement to drive measurable improvements in efficiency, experience, and adoption across the employee and manager lifecycle. Acting as the bridge between strategy and implementation, this role ensures transformation ideas are not just conceived but delivered.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years in transformation, consulting, operational excellence, or service design.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with Power BI, Azure Synapse, Fabric, ADF, Purview.
  • Knowledge of semantic models (e.g., tabular models, DAX) and measure design principles.
  • Scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python) and experience with CI/CD for BI artifacts.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Math or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current-state processes to identify inefficiencies, fragmentation, and friction points
  • Lead end-to-end redesigns that simplify, standardize, and eliminate unnecessary steps
  • Identify opportunities to remove, consolidate, or fundamentally rethink processes
  • Translate concepts into business requirements, user stories, and system workflows
  • Identify digitization and automation opportunities
  • Partner with HR Technology and IT on system requirements and implementation
  • Apply human-centered design principles to reimagine employee and manager journeys
  • Shift focus from task-based, legacy workflows to experience-led, outcome-driven process design
  • Establish and scale transformation frameworks including journey mapping, service blueprints, and future-state operating models
