About The Position

5N Plus is a global leader in the production of engineered materials and specialty chemicals. At our state-of-the-art facility in St. George, Utah, we manufacture high-purity semiconductor materials used in some of the world's most demanding environments. We're seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our dynamic team, specializing in semiconductor wafer polishing. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while contributing to products that make a real difference in space exploration, medical advancement, and defense applications.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in semiconductor processing, with specific expertise in wafer polishing
Demonstrated success in process optimization and variation reduction
Strong understanding of statistical process control and data analysis
Experience with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and team leadership abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
Capability to lift and handle up to 25 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in relevant field
Experience with CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization)
Experience working in a chemical plant
Experience with progressively scaling up processes in a chemical plant setting
Six Sigma certification
Programming experience with statistical analysis tools
Project management experience
Experience in mathematical modeling and process design

Responsibilities

Lead process optimization initiatives for semiconductor wafer polishing operations
Develop and implement innovative solutions to reduce manufacturing variation and costs
Design and validate new manufacturing processes and equipment configurations
Monitor and analyze critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, gas flow, etc.)
Spearhead continuous improvement projects and failure mode analysis
Conduct root-cause analysis to reduce manufacturing defect rates
Manage process documentation and maintain detailed technical records
Lead ingot/wafer fabrication processing initiatives
Control product quality through inspections and analysis verification
Drive manufacturing yield improvements and cost reduction initiatives
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety procedures
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members
