About The Position

American Trim is seeking a Process Engineer – Paints & Coatings to provide technical leadership for our industrial paint, coating and finishing processes. This role combines hands-on manufacturing support with process engineering and project leadership. The Process Engineer works across Engineering, Quality, Production, Tooling and our customers to develop new processes, improve existing operations, troubleshoot coating concerns and successfully launch new or revised products. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in industrial paints and coatings, coating chemistry, pretreatment, industrial cleaning, E-Coat, roll coating, screen printing or other applied coating technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar. Related experience will also be considered in combination with education and training.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to develop project plans; coordinate projects; communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time and budget; effectively manage project team activities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; demonstrate group presentation skills; participate in meetings.
  • Presents numerical data effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, developing and implementing effective engineering solutions that improve manufacturing processes, capabilities, quality and efficiency, with an emphasis on industrial paint and coating applications.
  • Supporting both new and existing products through process development, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, project planning, equipment and facility-layout development, cost estimating and employee training.
  • Leading the identification and implementation of effective solutions to improve the manufacturing process and capabilities.
  • Developing and redesigning facility layouts; promoting continuous process improvements.
  • Developing plans for timely and effective project completion by considering all required information from customers, engineering, tooling, quality and production in the planning stages.
  • Creating cost estimates and quotes for new and/or revised products.
  • Initiating quotes according to specifications, determining process methods, required equipment and optimum rates.
  • Developing and maintaining all supporting documents of activities in an organized manner for easy retrieval for review and consideration.
  • Developing and implementing employee training on new processes and equipment with documentation to assure optimum operation and employee safety.
