We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Intermediate Process Engineer for upcoming projects based in our Oakville office who is ready to provide project solutions. This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Ontario. Reporting to a Lead Process Engineer, you may lead small brownfield studies/projects and/or provide process design support on larger studies/projects to the Lead Process Engineer. The position has close interaction with other members of Process & Technology North America team and as well as other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of mineral processing and hydrometallurgical processes and techniques focusing on base and precious metals extraction.
  • Process Deliverable Production
  • Design Basis Development.
  • PDC, PFD, P&IDs, and plot layouts.
  • Mass, Energy and Water balances.
  • Selection and sizing of process equipment.
  • Ability to specify process equipment, various types and configurations, including benefits/shortfalls particular to a certain application.
  • Instrumentation and controls process design.
  • Understanding of potential process hazards and experience in Risk Assessments.
  • Process Modeling Software (Syscad, MetSim, HSC, JK SimMet).
  • Knowledge of standard programs (Excel, Visio, CAD).
  • A Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
  • Proven track record of contributing meaningfully to engineering projects—whether through hands-on plant exposure, design work, or collaborative study efforts.
  • Senior Intermediate level of experience working on engineering designing for mining, minerals and metals is required.
  • Experience in extractive metallurgy.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada or eligibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous learning.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Operation/plant experience is considered an asset.
  • Additional language skills such as French or Spanish is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Completing conceptual and/or detailed process engineering designs of new or revamp/additions to existing facilities.
  • Developing design basis documents and reports.
  • Develop process simulation model.
  • Carrying out calculations, design development and process simulations including providing process specifications for equipment and instrumentation.
  • Creating, reviewing and revising process deliverables such as PFDs, PDC, mass, energy & water balance, P&IDs, as well as supporting equipment specification and layout development.
  • Reviewing and applying relevant standards, regulations, codes and guidelines applicable for task, identify areas of deviation or concern.
  • Responsible for working within and following company work procedures, process technical guidelines, quality assurance plans, safety regulations and specific customer/project procedures.
  • Interfacing and coordination between other discipline engineers and project management staff.
  • Authenticating any of the above process deliverables per the customer requirements.
