About The Position

HGA is seeking a part-time Process Engineering Intern to support operations in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Intern will support project managers and engineers across multiple projects, gaining hands-on exposure to process analysis, data collection, process documentation, and project coordination within an industrial consulting environment.

Requirements

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a BS in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with quality and follow-through
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced project environment
  • Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when needed
  • Must be within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in core engineering/technology coursework
  • Coursework in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, or process design
  • Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or Aspen Plus
  • Interest in refining, chemicals, pulp and paper, industrial manufacturing, or other process industries
  • AutoCAD capability
  • Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, or research experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining process engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and technical reports
  • Support the preparation of technical project deliverables for clients
  • Coordinate and collect process data required for engineering evaluations and studies
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and assist with process analysis under the guidance of experienced engineers
  • Research and compile technical information needed by engineers or project managers
  • Assist with drafting, organizing, and updating project documentation
  • Participate in process reviews, field walkdowns, and site visits as needed
  • Participate in department meetings and collaborate with engineering team members across multiple disciplines
