About The Position
Applied Materials’ AGS surface technology team develops surface treatments for equipment components, including recycle cleanings and passivation, to support the company’s service business. The team performs hands-on work in a chemistry laboratory, uses various metrology tools, documents procedures, and develops ideas to accelerate the recycle cleaning business. The intern will assist with laboratory projects, develop analysis methods for complicated issues, conduct parts and materials analysis, collaborate with project owners on hardware development and troubleshooting, test functionality, and support experimental data acquisition, processing, and reporting. The position is based in Santa Clara, California. The posting identifies the role as full time and as an intern/student position, with no travel and relocation eligibility.
Requirements
- Be pursuing a master's degree in a science or engineering field, such as materials, chemistry, or physics; PhD students are also considered.
- Have hands-on experience with materials characterization.
- Be familiar with materials processing.
Nice To Haves
- Good academic standing at the university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with laboratory projects and develop analysis methods for complicated issues.
- Conduct parts and materials analysis using tools such as SEM and laser microscopes.
- Work with project owners on hardware development, troubleshooting, and functionality testing.
- Support experiment data acquisition and processing, and prepare reports.
