Materion Advanced Materials Technologies and Services, Inc., based in Brewster, NY, seeks a Process Engineer III will provide engineering support in the areas of product and process development, troubleshooting, cost (yield and labor efficiency) improvement, product quality improvement, and cycle time reduction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering or a closely related field (foreign degree equivalent accepted) and 5 years of post-degree progressive experience as a Process Engineer or closely related occupation OR Master’s Degree in Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering or a closely related field (foreign degree equivalent accepted) and 3 years of experience as a Process Engineer or closely related occupation.
  • 5 years (3 with Master’s) of experience in Vacuum induction melting (casting) of magnetic and ferrous metals.
  • 5 years (3 with Master’s) of experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing.
  • 5 years (3 with Master’s) of experience with casting mold simulation.
  • 5 years (3 with Master’s) of experience in Mechanical engineering controls.
  • 5 years (3 with Master’s) of experience in Managing cross-functional projects focused on scrap reduction and process improvement within semiconductor or high-precision manufacturing environments.
  • 3 years (1 with Master’s) of experience in SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product development (R&D) teams to follow New Product Development process and complete the manufacturing-related sections such as BOM, Travelers, Work Instructions, SPC, training, etc.
  • Develop SOPs and Process Flow Diagrams for new products or modified equipment and procedures.
  • Complete General Process Change control documents when implementing process changes on assigned production processes.
  • Develop standard work and assist in training operators.
  • Assist in New Process Development Stage Gate reviews.
  • Complete Process Audits and resolve audit findings.
  • Determine critical process metrics that can be monitored on a regular basis.
  • Work with Quality Engineering Team to develop and implement Statistical Process Controls for assigned production processes.
  • Provide support in the collection and interpretation of metric data (e.g. SPC charting).
  • Ensure that safety and process hazard reviews are conducted for new or modified equipment and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain FMEAs and Control Plans for assigned processes.
  • Assist in all Change Control processes.
  • Investigate and propose new production procedures and methods to automate, improve, and/or scale up existing processes.
  • Utilize the General Process Change control system to implement changes and provide progress reports and financial evaluations.
  • Run test program to identify key variables for process optimization using sound Continuous Improvement techniques (such as ANOVA, DOE).
  • Collect and analyze data from tests.
  • Develop conclusions and recommendations for process improvement(s).
  • Troubleshoot problems with existing equipment and processes.
  • Recommend solutions to such problems and implement solutions after review.
  • Act as the 8D champion for complaint resolution including root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventative actions for any complaints for the assigned area.
