About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Process Engineer II is responsible for collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and other staff within a plant to understand and increase manufacturing capabilities, increase yields, improve process flow, increase productivity and maximize work force utilization. Several production lines, and multiple site locations, may be included in the scope. Engineer focuses on implementing sound engineering practices and uses methodologies (lean, six sigma, TPM, SPC) as applicable to drive process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Must have more than 3 years manufacturing engineering experience with supporting production equipment, measurement equipment, and process improvements.
  • Software knowledge: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SolidWorks are required.
  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - Analyze data to identify root causes, develop strategies for routine issues, recommend process improvements, and evaluate solutions with flexibility and critical thinking.
  • Build Relationships - Recognize others meaningfully and frequently, use feedback to build confidence and respect, adapt communication to workplace styles, and actively participate in team-building activities.
  • Business Acumen - Understand the impact of their work on internal/external customers, explain strategic impact of their contributions, and identify priorities and strategies for completing goals and tasks.

  • Data Analysis - Independently design and conduct data analysis using advanced techniques to identify trends, anticipate risks, and influence stakeholders through data visualization/storytelling.
  • Mathematical Reasoning - Understand and apply complex mathematical concepts, including geometry and trigonometry, work with various 2D and 3D coordinate systems, apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements, and write and troubleshoot simple formulas in Excel or similar software.
  • Project Management - Lead projects through all phases, from initiation to closing, by defining scope, planning resources, managing teams, ensuring effective communication, and documenting progress and results.
  • Technology Use - Independently operate common technology platforms (e.g., InfinityQS, SPC, Service Center, Analytical Lab, etc.), and use job aids and help documentation to resolve issues.
  • Time Management - Determine task priorities, avoid multitasking and procrastination, understand appropriate time allocation for tasks, set boundaries to prevent overwork, and eliminate unproductive tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Desired experience in plating, brazing, and kiln firing processes (reduction firing, or gas/electric furnaces); manufacturing engineering in an automated environment; relevant project experience.
  • InfinityQS, Minitab, or CMM programming are a plus.
  • Materials Knowledge - May need a general understanding of materials and characteristics including material formulations and shrink rates for manufacturing product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee manufacturing processes to maintain and improve product and process quality.
  • Lead problem solving activities for complex issues that involve the process and associated equipment. Utilize Structured Problem Solving (SPS) and Process Control System (PCS) methodologies to resolve complex issues and reduce process variation.
  • Deploy expertise in Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies through application in an extensive scope of projects. Use a team-based approach to gather input from teammates or senior-level colleagues.
  • Perform detail-oriented analysis utilizing high math and effective communication skills. Provide recommendations to teammates.
  • Demonstrate ability to execute on larger strategic projects; equipment/process qualifications, systems/process integration, and multi-site initiatives.
  • Aid in technology transfers to meet production requirements. Documentation, training, and guiding plant engineering and manufacturing team members. Develop and implement best practices.
  • Design, install, maintain, analyze, and improve various types of equipment, including electronic and mechanical equipment, to improve efficiency and utilization of resources. Participate in long/short range equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Must maintain high safety requirements including meeting local consensus safety standards.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of teammates with different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Must be willing to work on production floor for extended periods.
