UCT is looking for a talented Process Engineer II to join us in Austin, TX! We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Process Engineer II to support a major facility startup and production ramp in Austin, Texas. This individual will play a key role in developing a new location layout driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring readiness for production launch. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, prioritize tight deadlines, possesses strong problem-solving skills, communicates effectively across functions, and enjoys working closely with technicians, maintenance personnel, contractors, and engineering teams. Position Summary The Process Engineer II will provide engineering support for manufacturing and cleaning operations while helping prepare the facility for production launch. This role will work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and quality teams to develop and implement robust processes, optimize production efficiency within clean room and production environments, and maintain compliance with company and customer requirements. This position will also provide leadership and guidance to a small team of Engineering Technicians and Production Technicians while supporting.

Requirements

  • Experience with new build start up projects required.
  • Familiarity with Chemicals and Clean room materials and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with at least two years experience within the engineering function of semiconductor processing or systems manufacturing company.
  • 1-5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.

  • Assessing processes for their relevance, and assessing the adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Review existing data (including lab analysis) to see if more research and information need to be collected.
  • Designing, installing and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
  • Conducting process development experiments to scale in a laboratory environment as directed by the Director of R&D as required.
  • Preparing reports, flow diagrams and charts.
  • Working closely with other engineers to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of a plant; Ensuring the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet customer needs.
  • Working closely with other specialists, including: scientists responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products; engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues on product specifications and production schedules; and the operating crew.

Responsibilities

  • Support facility startup activities and production readiness initiatives for new manufacturing operations.
  • Develops and maintains eRecipes, process work instructions, SOPs, etc. as necessary to support production workload.
  • Develops/maintains/evaluates production tooling (fixtures, baskets, etc.) required for efficient, effective part processing.
  • Monitors and maintains production equipment (tanks, pumps, heaters, etc.) and participate in equipment replacement/specification efforts as required.
  • Ensures compliance to existing operating procedures and recommends revisions as appropriate.
  • Monitors effectiveness of production processes and support problem resolution as it relates to technical evaluation of parts processed.
  • Monitors compliance to the material specification database for process materials (chemistry, gases, blast media, etc.).
  • Monitors/maintains process controls (pressures, temperatures, concentration, contamination, etc.) through SPC.
  • Insures that process measurements fall within the control limits and the overall process CPKs comply with the divisional limits.
  • Maintains/monitors work environments to ensure they are adequate for the tasks being performed, preserve safe work practices, and meet housekeeping requirements.
  • Develops/assists in development of training materials, examinations, agendas, and schedules required for personnel training/certification.
  • Participates in customer audits, complaint resolution, costs analysis/time study as they relate to sales/marketing efforts.
  • Participates in internal/external audits, CAPA resolution, defect/problem analysis, preventive action activities, etc.
  • Participates in established committees as assigned (technical committee, safety committee, environmental committee, etc.)
  • Supervises site monthly qualification cleanliness testing and parament process controls to insures that process results fall between the specification limits.
  • Liaises with Engineering Manager or System Engineering Group to ensure effective procedures and BKMs are implemented at the sites.
