About The Position

CANUSA EPC is seeking a Process Engineer II to join their engineering team. This role is designed for an engineer with 3-6 years of experience who has a strong technical foundation and is ready for increased responsibility, greater client and project exposure, and the opportunity to see designs through from concept to execution and field implementation. The engineer will work collaboratively with experienced professionals across various disciplines on projects in the oil, natural gas, energy, and chemical industries. Responsibilities include detailed process engineering, developing simulations and design documents, participating in design and safety reviews, and supporting field commissioning and startup.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant process engineering experience. A master's degree may account for up to two years of experience.
  • Experience within the oil & gas, natural gas, energy, petrochemical, or chemical industries.
  • Working knowledge of process engineering calculations and design documentation.
  • Experience with process simulation software such as BRE ProMax and/or AspenTech HYSYS.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations, including API, ASME, and DOT requirements.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to engage senior engineers and other disciplines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A valid passport.
  • The ability to travel between the United States and Canada as required for project and business activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation or active progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Previous EPC or consulting engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting field commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting activities.
  • Experience working directly with clients, operations teams, or vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process engineering studies, Basis of Design documents, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Build new and update existing process simulation models using tools such as BRE ProMax and AspenTech HYSYS.
  • Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat & Material Balances (HMBs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform equipment, valve, and piping sizing calculations and develop associated specifications.
  • Perform Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) sizing and calculations with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Review vendor drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) meetings and help implement resulting recommendations.
  • Work directly with project managers, engineers, designers, vendors, clients, and operations personnel throughout project execution.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and help identify practical engineering solutions.
  • Conduct field surveys and site walkdowns to gather information and verify existing conditions.
  • Provide engineering support during commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and operational improvement activities.
  • Support junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Assist with proposals, engineering estimates, and other business development activities.
  • Maintain CANUSA EPC's safety, engineering, and quality standards throughout project execution.
