As a Process Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues. You'll also measure film properties, generate technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. Process Engineers collaborate with vendors and suppliers, and become familiar with implementing new technologies and products. You will experiment, learn, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the semiconductor and display industries, partnering with our globally recognized R&D teams on state-of-the-art research and development projects. Applied Materials has an immediate need for a full-time process engineer or materials scientist. In this job, you will be working closely with engineers and scientists to develop critical processes such as improving existing sputtering recipes, developing new films, and improving metal-diamond brazes. We are looking for a self-motivated, fast learner capable of working independently as well as in a small team and willing to explore new ideas. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of process optimization and characterization techniques. The ideal candidate will be able to: Learn and develop new processes quickly and completely Analyze and present data in a thorough and comprehensible manner Maintain and troubleshoot complex systems for proprietary processes

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Physics, Materials Science, or similar field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, both data analysis and critical thinking
  • Ability to deliver solutions under tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities according to current demands

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor process engineering experience is a plus
  • X-ray technology experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with PVD systems, ceramic-metal braze, and wet and dry etching are pluses
  • Cleanroom and vacuum system experience are pluses
  • Familiarity with using an SEM is a plus
  • Linux and Python experience are pluses

Responsibilities

  • Running PVD sputtering and e-beam deposition processes
  • Maintaining PVD sputtering system and other lab equipment
  • Running diamond-metal braze processes
  • Support of general R&D group in documenting new processes
