About The Position

Toray Performance Materials Corporation (TPMC) is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Process Engineer II to support production operations by driving safety, quality, on-time delivery, and efficiency outcomes. This role partners closely with production leadership, supervisors, and training teams to ensure employees meet established performance standards, adhere to company policies, and successfully complete training and development plans. The Process Engineer II plays a key role in maintaining production output, supporting financial and strategic goals, and contributing technical expertise to a dynamic, fast-growing optical assembly and test operation. Process Engineer II is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing manufacturing processes with strong ownership of configuration control (BOM and routers), process standardization, and performance improvement. This role ensures high accuracy in manufacturing documentation, drives efficiency and quality through data-driven decisions, supports New Product Introduction (NPI), and actively contributes to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a safe, compliant workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (or advanced) degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or related field preferred)
  • 3–6 years of manufacturing/process engineering experience, preferably in composites or advanced materials
  • Strong experience in BOM, router management, and ERP systems
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as molding, lamination, assembly, or similar technologies
  • Experience with DOE, SPC, Lean manufacturing, and structured problem solving
  • Strong attention to detail with high documentation discipline
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong ownership and accountability for process performance
  • Effective communication and collaboration across functions and global teams

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and process documentation

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOM), routers, work instructions, specifications, and control plans in ERP systems
  • Ensure BOM accuracy within <1% variation and router accuracy within <5% variation through regular audits, validation, and cross-functional alignment
  • Own configuration control, including document control, revision management, and change traceability in compliance with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems
  • Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECO) to ensure timely and accurate implementation across BOMs, routers, SOPs, and specifications
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation (SOPs, specifications, work instructions) is accurate, controlled, and aligned with production execution
  • Identify and close gaps between defined standards and actual production processes to ensure repeatability and consistency
  • Provide hands-on support on the production floor to validate process adherence and resolve issues in real time
  • Train and audit operators and technicians to ensure compliance with BOM, routers, and SOPs
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCCA) using data-driven methods (SPC, DOE)
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, reduce scrap, and increase operational efficiency
  • Lead or support process innovation projects, including optimization of existing processes and development of new processes
  • Lead or support CAPEX projects including equipment selection, justification, installation, validation, and ramp-up
  • Support alignment of BOMs, routers, specifications, and processes across global sites (U.S., China, Vietnam)
  • Collaborate with cross-site teams to standardize best practices and ensure consistent implementation.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through defined stage-gate processes
  • Ensure all NPI documentation is accurate, complete, and released on time
  • Support cost reduction and risk mitigation initiatives through process optimization and material second source qualification
  • Support supplier process validation and technical assessments as required
  • Actively support and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives
  • Support production management on regular Gemba walks, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation comply with local, state, and federal EHS regulations
  • Lead continuous improvement of SOPs and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) to standardize safe work practices
  • Support EHS reporting, compliance documentation, and audit readiness
