About The Position

United States Steel - Granite City Works is seeking a Process Engineer -Finishing Mill Technology. This position will perform a full range of process engineer duties in the Cold Strip, Pickle Line and GGG areas. The role involves administering the U. S. Steel safety program, learning and understanding the Cold Mill, Pickle Line and GGG Technology processes, and utilizing management skills to supervise, direct, and coordinate employees to maximize operating efficiencies. The engineer will implement the production plan by coordinating material movement and equipment operation to meet customer specifications, and administer personnel, production reports, policies, and procedures. Understanding the steelmaking process is also part of the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering is required.

Nice To Haves

• 2 + years' experience in process engineering in a manufacturing industry is highly preferred
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards and environmental regulations
• Previous Finishing Mill experience

Responsibilities

• Administer the U. S. Steel safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping.
• Learn and understand the Cold Mill, Pickle Line and GGG Technology processes.
• Utilization of management skills to supervise, direct and coordinate the efforts of employees assigned to the operating facility to maximize operating efficiencies with minimum interruption.
• Implementation of the production plan by coordinating material movement and equipment operation to meet customer's specifications -- including quality, delivery requirements, etc.
• Administration of operating facilities' personnel, production reports, policies and procedures and other reporting as necessary.
• Learn and understand the steelmaking process.
