About The Position

This role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on multiple projects, under the supervision of a senior process engineer. Key responsibilities include developing heat and material balances, performing equipment sizing, conducting hydraulic calculations, and managing facility overpressure protection. The position also requires developing design basis, process control narratives, PFDs, and P&IDs. Participation in safety reviews (HAZOP/PHAs) and PSM activities is essential. The role demands effective communication with project teams, clients, vendors, and contractors, as well as supporting proposal preparation, schedule planning, construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts. This includes drafting operating procedures and contributing to operator training manuals.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Able to travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, start-up activities, off-site training, industry related conventions/seminars, etc. (up to 20% travel).

Nice To Haves

  • Oil and gas industry experience in midstream and/or upstream.
  • Skills in HYSYS, Synergi, VMG Symmetry, and/or ProMax preferred.
  • Interest in learning and effectively using emerging technologies where relevant to their role.
  • Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant but is not required unless specifically identified elsewhere in the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for multiple projects.
  • Develop the heat and material balance for new projects using process simulation tools.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and prepare equipment data sheets.
  • Perform detailed hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, control valve sizing, compressor and pump duties, etc.
  • Perform facility overpressure protection calculations, PSV sizing, and documentation with supervision.
  • Develop Design Basis for new projects.
  • Develop Process Control Narrative document and support Cause & Effect document.
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Participate in safety reviews, HAZOP/PHAs and PSM activities.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals for engineering services.
  • Support schedule planning for projects including coordinating staffing resources with Process Engineering Manager.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts, draft operating procedures and provide operator training manual input.
