About The Position

We are seeking a Process Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Mining Group. Reporting to a Senior or Lead Process Engineer, the successful candidate will support a variety of mining and minerals processing projects, contributing to engineering design, analysis, and field activities while developing technical expertise under professional supervision. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to build a strong foundation in process engineering within the mining sector, with exposure to both office-based design work and site activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Chemical Engineering (or related discipline) from an accredited university
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and in good standing
  • Strong understanding of chemical and process engineering fundamentals
  • Exposure to or academic experience with: Mass and energy balances, PFDs and P&IDs, Hydraulic calculations, Equipment and instrumentation data sheets
  • Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or similar tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, learning-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with process simulations and evaluations for mining and minerals processing applications
  • Developing and reviewing heat and material balances
  • Preparing and updating Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Performing hydraulic calculations for slurry, water, and process systems
  • Assisting with the preparation of equipment process data sheets
  • Supporting the development of instrument process data
  • Participating in relief analysis and assisting with pressure safety valve (PSV) sizing, under supervision
  • Traveling to client or site locations to participate in field walk-downs, data collection, and coordination with project teams
  • Supporting collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders
