About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting with research and development, validations of testing methods, and documentation. Work closely with QSM to ensure proper documentation of validation, uncertainty, and proficiency testing.

Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge Excel
  • Chemistry degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Effective management of time and deadlines
  • Advanced organizational skills (both physical and electronic organization)
  • OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. At POLARIS Laboratories, when going through the Laboratory it is required that you wear eye protection.
  • Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. POLARIS Laboratories provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
  • To ensure safety throughout the facility, all employees are required to maintain up to date HAZMAT, OSHA, RCRA, Methylene Chloride, and General Laboratory Safety training as defined within the POLARIS Quality System.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in files for the organization and binder for the Indianapolis facility
  • Maintain chemical inventories
  • Create documentation, work instructions, forms, etc. as needed for new and existing procedures
  • Create Excel spreadsheets to document research results
  • Enter data into various spreadsheets on a routine basis
  • Assist in procuring materials for the department
  • Assist in assessing potential equipment purchases
  • Inspect, maintain and repair laboratory equipment
  • Conduct test to validate analytical procedures
  • Assist with PT process for all labs
  • Assist with evaluation of apparatus and methods to determine feasibility of additional in-house testing
  • Perform routine lab analysis as necessary
  • Assist in safety compliance
  • Adherence and support of the POLARIS Employee Handbook inclusive of the Standards of Conduct
  • Learn and support the Quality Management System
  • Learn and support POLARIS Lean Initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
