About The Position

The Kinetic Group, a world leader in small caliber ammunition manufacturing, is seeking a Process Design Engineer. This entry-level role focuses on the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate with a degree in a relevant engineering field (Process, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Controls) who is passionate about optimizing production through automation and data-driven problem-solving. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance, while also supporting new product introductions and capital projects. This position reports to the Director of Product Development (Shotshell and Muzzleloader) and is based in Anoka, Minnesota.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering/Science discipline
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, project management and teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving ability.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and lean principles.
  • Hands on experience with machining and manufacturing equipment.
  • SolidWorks or CAD.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical & Controls Engineering experience - PLC programming and troubleshooting, Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, industrial automation systems, sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition, and control panel design and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Initiate process changes and improvements, maintain process records and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze operational data such as production costs, process flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of employees, tooling, supplies, and equipment.
  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with a cross-discipline team.
  • Initiate and lead engineering projects including cost improvements and capital projects.
  • Write technical reports and present them to management and other interested parties.
  • Effectively communicate with manufacturing personnel and management.
  • Regularly interact with and provide technical guidance to manufacturing and shop personnel.
  • Assist in training production personnel in work instruction and procedures.
  • Understand product specifications and interpret test data.
  • Understand how manufacturing processes affect the performance characteristics of the product.
