About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Process Controls Engineer to support our lumber facility in Dodson, Louisiana. This role involves developing and defining intermediate to advanced control system applications for various machinery and equipment, performing quality assurance on existing manufacturing processes, and identifying areas for process control optimization. The engineer will implement preventive and predictive maintenance methods to reduce downtime and utilize reliable troubleshooting to meet production volume, quality, and uptime goals. Additionally, the role assists in project planning, ensures efficient use of troubleshooting methods, and leverages computer-based programs for maintenance request prioritization, inventory management, and resource delegation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years' experience in PLC programming and Process Control
• Proven experience in HMI Programming
• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Work related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives
• Desire and ability to manage projects
• High level of proficiency with PLC troubleshooting
• Ability to program and troubleshoot AC or DC power inverters/frequency drives
• Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance systems and techniques
• Ability to read and understand electrical power and control system schematics
• Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Strong work ethic, good judgement and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, other Windows-based programs and internet skills
• Must be able to accept calls during non-business hours as needed
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, when necessary

Responsibilities

• Develop and define intermediate to advanced control system applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies or platforms including ladder logic programming for programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
• Perform quality assurance on existing manufacturing processes
• Identify areas that need process control optimization
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance methods and systems to reduce unscheduled downtime
• Utilize reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure production volume, quality and overall uptime goals are met
• Assist in project planning
• Ensure efficient use of reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume and quality goals are met
• Ensure effective use of training resources to maximize team technical skills
• Use computer-based programs to support effective prioritization of maintenance requests, manage maintenance inventory, and delegate maintenance resources
