Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Automation, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent) with 10+ years of process control experience.
  • Additional work experience may be used in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with process control / process automation programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in electrical/controls/automation/instrumentation.
  • Proven understanding of PLC hardware and programming is required; Allen Bradley knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs);
  • Ability to read, understand, and develop schematics (Electrical, Instrumentation, P&ID, Single Line etc.).
  • Familiarity with historian database implementation an operating experience
  • Functional knowledge of Proportional, Integral, Derivative (PID) control and tuning.
  • Proficiency with electrical systems, instrumentation, and troubleshooting process issues.
  • Basic database & computer programming knowledge
  • Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting (EtherNet/IP and ControlNet)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete work assigned with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated team member who is willing to support operations call 24X7.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with all levels of the organization and in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and operate well with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and executes process control tasks, including but not limited to troubleshooting, configuring, documenting, and maintenance of equipment in order to operate a safe and reliable chemical plant operations.
  • Lead by example on safety programs and policies.
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, Networks etc.
  • Assist Electrical and Instrumentation personnel in troubleshooting complex equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Utilize troubleshooting techniques to identify the root cause of process issues/upsets.
  • Ensure reliable, optimized plant operation by successfully managing and implementing Process Control related changes, utilizing process control disciplines and requirements.
  • Utilize troubleshooting techniques to identify root cause of problem areas in Process Control code, Operator Interface or hardware and effectively resolve these problems with stakeholders’ input (resolution of exception reports, elements in manual, and reduction of alarms / unplanned events).
  • Perform training and coaching for changes as required and assist in training efforts requested by Plant Operations.
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing equipment, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency, production, and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, quality, and R&D, to ensure seamless integration of equipment into production lines.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and cost reduction, and drive their implementation.
  • Initiate, manage, and close MOC actions related to process control.
  • Stay current in the latest technologies in automation hardware and software, process controls, process simulation and networking.
  • Provide technical leadership in developing Automation standards, software and hardware infrastructure and system optimization for plant process control systems and control schemes.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties assigned by Supervisor.
  • Capable of updating and maintaining plant schematics (Electrical, Instrumentation, P&ID, Single Line etc.).
