The Chino mine is an open-pit copper mining complex located in southwestern New Mexico. The operation consists of a concentrator that produces copper and a solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode. Requirements

Demonstrated an affinity or aptitude in electrical, instrumentation, or Process Automation maintenance and troubleshooting.
Completion of required academic and practical competencies.
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Nice To Haves

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), HMI, SCADA, or DCS training/certification
Experience with plant process historians or similar systems
Familiarity with ICS/PCN architecture, communication, and security
Understanding of mining and mineral processing systems
Training in NFPA 70, NEC, or Electrical Journeyman

Responsibilities

Under direct Process Automation supervision, troubleshoot and maintain site Industrial Control Systems.
Follow Freeport-McMoRan safety and environmental programs and practices.
Communicate safety implications related to Process Automation.
Adhere to Industrial Control System cybersecurity practices and policies.
Collaborate with others on Process Automation Engineering topics and projects.
Locate and read engineering documentation and designs, verifying project work quality meets site Process Automation standards.
Understand ICS hardware and software installations.
Participate in identifying opportunities to implement process improvement and optimization through automation.
Improve Operator and Operations effectiveness.
Understand the Process Control Network and its relationship to plant performance, cybersecurity, and plant historian systems.
Participate in troubleshooting plant issues under direct supervision.
Identify and troubleshoot specialized analytical and advanced instrumentation solutions to be integrated into the site ICS under direct supervision.
Perform other duties as requested.
